dj howard has been bouncing around the London private party scene for a number of years with his diverse eclectika sessions . He remains one of a relatively small group of dj's who've consistently championed the ethos of ' eclectic balearic '.
Balearic refers to the group of Spanish islands which contain Ibiza, the European home of contemporary dance culture , while Balearic music refers to a style of djing which mixes many different genres together
in one set.
Whilst most dj's tend to hang their hat on one particular genre, howard recognised that the vibe on which the original Ibiza dance scene was based, was one of joyful inclusivity .
His set blends the best of happy, latin, funky and deep house with a fine selection of weird 'n wonderful remixes and inspirational versions, flavoured by the resonant tones of minimal and dub, to create an entertaining kaleidoscopic musical journey .
During the summer months, he is a regular
visitor to Ibiza where he has presented eclectika sessions at a number of Las Dalias garden parties, under sunny and starlit skies, as well as the exotic, upmarket ambience of Bambuddha Grove cocktail lounge.
In London, his public reputation has been built with residencies at Camden's exotic Gilgamesh, The Lockside Lounge, Dollar and various gigs in Notting Hill's Cobden Club, Beach Blanket Babylon and countless private parties.
Wherever he plays, he rapidly builds a following for his infectious, eclectic style . As he notes : "the truth is, I probably have a short attention span, but I like light
and shade, and the idea that every other track is a surprise. I don't play records... I create atmospheres " .
On top of bar and club work, he is regularly booked for corporate gigs, including those for MTV, Vivienne Westwood Design, and The Prince's Trust.
He has also developed a reputation for playing lavish private parties in the UK and abroad, where he's entertained guests by providing a lush backdrop for conversation & canapés, before leading on into hours of 'full on' dancing .
In fact, marathon sets are somthing of a trademark. Word spread about one of his post new year chilled sets at Camden's Lockside Lounge turning it into a rammed full on rave in which he played for a solid 9 hours!
For the past three years, howard's eclectika sessions has been building a worldwide following with his regular monthly broadcasts on respected US dance station Frisky Radio.
